The Jerome Bettis Fumble

Nobody knows about the future of Jerome Bettis except him and his family but if the indianapolis Colts had scored a game winning touchdown at the end of the game, Bettis would be back. Jerome Bettis is a gamer, and will live on as one of the best franchise players of the Pittsburgh steelers organization. This can not be said lightly as the steelers organization is one of the most storied franchises of the nfl.

Jerome Bettis would not be back for personal pride though, he is not a selfish player. He is not the type of player to come back to redeem himself like other players might, he does not need to legitimize his career. His choice to come back would be because of the betterment of the Pittsburgh steelers. Any potential hall of famer to take a back seat, take less pay, and be completely happy with the decision is the ultimate team player.

The steelers without Jerome Bettis is like a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich without the bread. What is going to hold it together? His leadership, mentoring of the young Willie Parker, his relationship with Ben Roethlisberger, his reliability in the short yardage downs, and his work ethic will be a vital loss to the steelers.

The steelers will lose Jerome Bettis one of these years. I feel that if the steelers win the super Bowl, he will not be back. But there is no doubt that Jerome Bettis has given a lasting legacy on the Pittsburgh steelers. The football gods were right to not let the Jerome Bettis fumble be the deciding factor in this game.

Inside SXR Uranium One and Its Chief Executive

We talked about the Sweetwater Mill, which he informed us would use a solvent extraction circuit, not an ion exchange for stripping resins as would be found with an In Situ Recovery (ISR) operation. Does that rule out ISR? No, not at all, he told us. Froneman referred to the ISR method in a way weve not heard it previously described, ISR is an elegant way of extracting uranium. Thats a step up from being called a water treatment plant, as some refer to ISR. But, he feels ISR is limited from a growth point of view. In terms of the growth that we can expect, due to the increase in the uranium price, underground and open pit mining has to feature a lot more now, he pointed out. That is exactly where we have our core competency.

Perhaps SXRs focus on the companys core competency is what led to this past Januarys speculation that the companys Honeymoon in-situ leach operation in Australia would be sold to interested Chinese parties. Froneman responded quickly with a news release, announcing, The talks were not conclusive, and as far as Uranium One is concerned, Honeymoon is a core asset of our global company and is not up for sale. He told us, We do have an ISL mine in Australia. Its not that we dont have ISL skills, but its not something that I would promote strongly as one of our core competencies.

At heart, he is a hard rock miner, through and through. Froneman doesnt dislike ISR, We could get more upside in open pit and underground mining, but we remain well aware of the benefits of in situ leaching. As Patrick Drummond, plant superintendent for Camecos Smith Ranch told us, in situ uranium recovery is just not mining as he knows it from his coal mining days in Scotland. Froneman and Drummond are of like minds in that respect.

Turnarounds & Challenging Mines

What then would be included among the companys core competencies? Froneman comes to SXR with bachelors degrees in mechanical engineering and accounting, arriving in his current position by way of executive positions at Harmony, JCI and Goldfields. He is known for taking on difficult projects, such as the Kloof underground gold mine about 60 kilometers outside Johannesburg. Assigned to turnaround the underperforming Goldfields asset, Froneman delivered a 40-percent increase in productivity and cutting unit costs by 13 percent. Along with increases in the gold price during that time frame, profits doubled.

Kloof wasnt the first time Froneman faced a challenge and executed. He had delivered similar results for Harmony Gold, after the company acquired the Grootvlei and Modderfontein gold mines in 1997. As executive director for operations, Froneman slashed costs on the East Rand operations by more than 30 percent and doubled productivity. Revamping the high cost operations into one which was more efficient led to Harmonys acquisition of low-producing Evander. Again, Froneman faced the challenge of transforming yet another high-cost operation into a profitable one. Within two years, he made the mine profitable by slicing expenses, increasing efficiency and getting more gold out of the ground.

Froneman seems to also have a knack for timing. He quickly jumped in and out of JCI, in early 2002, when he disagreed with certain governance issues. His decision led him to Aflease by April 2003. Just as the uranium sector was beginning to heat up, he engineered a reverse takeover of Southern Cross Resources, combining Aflease Gold and Uranium Resources Limited, into SXR Uranium One. Systematically since then, he has begun building a multi-national conglomerate with operations to mine in Australia, South Africa and the United States. The companys share price has more than doubled since January, and held up strongly in the midst of the temporary price correction of uranium stocks.

Risks of Obesity Cited as #1 Health Issue in 2020

Obesity states U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH). Today, ninety-six million Americans are considered obese. But, what can be done to reverse the trend?

Try a low glycemic diet that is rich in whole grains and low in refined sugars

  • Exercise regularly and for sustained periods of time
  • Get enough sleep (studies show that adult dieters who get less than eight hours of sleep per night lose less weight than those who get eight hours or more)
  • Drink water - at least eight glasses per day
The trend is not absolute and can be altered dramatically. There are factors that contribute to obesity.
        1. Genetics 2. Environment

        3. Our Behaviors

What are some of the negative impacts of obesity?
        • Diabetes. A large majority of diabetics have acquired the disease directly because of their obesity. They are now chained to a life of taking pills, or even worse, taking insulin shots. Diabetes leads to all sorts of other health complications, as well.
        • Heart attack. People who are obese are at a significantly higher risk of having a heart attack. This fact is proven over and over again. Sudden cardiac arrest is a fairly common cause of death for someone who is obese.
        • Cancer. Obesity also increases the chance of acquiring a number of cancers. Yes, it is true. Although this connection wasn't clear for years, it is crystal clear now.
        • Joint problems. Obesity also leads to joint problems. Excess weight puts significant stress on each joint, even with the simplest of activities. Many obesity sufferers have knee problems for this very reason.
        • Sleep apnea. Respiratory problems are quite common, as well. The most common is sleep apnea. People who are diagnosed with this have a very difficult time breathing while they sleep. This makes them more tired during the day.
A recent study published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that the combined direct and indirect health care costs resulting from obese and overweight Americans is estimated to be $117 billion per year. Statistics also demonstrate that death rates increase at least 200% for people who are 50 pounds or more overweight. The National Institute of Health (NIH) has stated that an increase of 20% beyond ideal body weight is the point at which excess weight becomes a health risk. There are many diseases which often follow obesity such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, sleep apnea, respiratory problems, bone and joint problems, coronary artery disease, stroke, some cancers, and many others. Each of these independently can have serious consequences to ones health. The medical risks of diabetes are indeed profound.

Golf Swing Grip - Choosing the Right One

Golf swing grip is so important element in golf game. Golf grip is the only connection between you and your golf club. Accuracy and power depends on golf grip too. Finding your perfect golf club grip is the first thing you should do. It takes time and practice to do that. But if you choose correct golf aid you can do it faster. But still it takes some practice to achieve your goal.

Choosing right golfing aid is important too. You should choose the one which has a lot of positive feedback. Personally I have tried a loads of golf swing aids and only few really helped me to cut few strokes of my game. I was very happy when I found aid which helped me to improve my golf swing. I suggest to stick to only one aid and practice by it. You will get much better results. Trust me.

There are three basic grip types. You should try them all and choose one which is best for you. There are never ending discussions about which golf grip type is the best. But in my opinion they are all same.

Here are those three grip types :

Overlapping grip type. Overlapping grip type setup: little finger of one hand placed over index finger of other hand.

interlocking grip type. Setup: Similar to the overlapping grip setup just those to finger are interlocked instead of overlapped.

Baseball grip type. Setup: Those two finger do not overlap or interlock, they just meet together.

Try all those grip types and choose the one which is most comfortable to you.

Developing A Good Fade Golf Shot

A good golf swing, for most people is developed through hours of golf instruction and practice. Many people never really do develop what they would describe as a good golf swing. The most common problem for the average golfer is overcoming their slice. For many beginning golfers it is a cause of great frustration and may cause them to quit the game of golf altogether. A golf ball slices when one of several golf swing problems cause excessive side spin on the ball causing the ball to curve to the right.

If you have a good golf swing that is consistent and repetitive then you might even want the develop the effects of a slice. A controlled slice is called a fade. The major difference between a slice and a fade is the amount of control. Why would you want to slice the ball? All golf courses have obstacles and dogleg fairways that have to be overcome by the golfer. Many golfers will play short or lay up to get around these course obstacles however many good golfers will choose to hit a fade or draw golf shot. A good fade shot is a good way to get around a right dogleg or an tree located in the right side of the fairway. again a fade is a controlled right hand curving golf shot.

So how do you make a good fade shot? You begin by getting into your normal address position. swing your club up to waist high follow through position so that your left arm is fully extended so that the club and your arm forms an L shape. That means the tip or toe of the club must point back to right. When you look down the club shaft you should note that your point of aim is 10 to 15 feet to the left of your target.

Now bring your swing all the way to the back swing position. Repeat this move several times to ingrain the feel of this swing. You will notice that the position of your follow through position will cause your to take a wide outside upswing plane. As you make your down swing your club face will remain open as your swing moves outside during your release. This will cause strong left to right spin and thus a fade shot. You will have to spend a good deal of time at the range to get a comfortable and confident with your fade shot. Remember to warm up your practice session using the fundamentals of a good golf swing. plan your practices sessions with distinct objectives. Keep a diary of each practice session to assure you develop a repeatable golf shot.

On the course you can use the mental check list of steps provided above to make sure that your swing plane is correct for the fade shot. Some golfers will also increase the amount of fade by further opening the club face. One additional tip is to make sure you maintain strong left hand grip to delay the release of your hands which will also open the club face at the point of impact. As you develop your skill and confidence at making a consistent fade shot your enjoyment of the game of golf will increase and your partners will marvel at your skill. Imagine the look on their faces as your ball fades around a center fairway tree to lie in the middle of the fairway on the other side. A good golf swing is a beautiful thing.
